You ARE Beautiful

This is literally one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I couldn't help but tear up as I watched people describe themselves so hideously, yet when someone else described them, their true beauty was reflected.

When do we stop seeing ourselves as we truly are and take on such a negative perception?
We are constantly telling children how beautiful they are, making sure we reinforce a good self-esteem, yet as we get older the world tells us something else.

Our confidence dwindles and we just feel "ugly". Someone tells us we're beautiful and we instantly cringe at the thought. We do not see what other people see. We stand, looking in the mirror, feeling lost and helpless. We look at ourselves and see long foreheads, huge eyes, fat cheeks, while others see bright eyes, perfectly round cheeks, and beautiful skin. Why is it so hard for us to see our own natural beauty?

I watched this video over and over again watching people describe these strangers so perfectly using such a gentle approach. The stranger's descriptions were not only more beautiful than the actual person, but they were more accurate.

At one point the woman says that our natural beauty impacts everything from how we act to how people treat us. That is completely true. How we see ourselves impacts our happiness, which ultimately depicts how we carry ourselves. There is a humbleness that comes with natural beauty and we often never discover our own "true beauty".

Every day we are plagued with magazine covers of airbrushed beauties, runway models on tv, dieting ads everywhere, skin products, all with beautiful, small, thin, perfectly shaped people advertising everything. They have perfect hair, perfect smiles, perfect skin, beautiful eyes, and we sit here wishing we had all of those things, failing to recognize our own natural beauty.

I have always struggled with this, to that point that I will literally reject any compliment someone throws at me and it doesn't matter what it is. I don't feel good or excited when someone comments on my beauty. I feel like it's a lie, because I stand in the mirror and describe myself just as the women in this video. I do not see what others see. I have a negative, skewed, perception just as many women and men do. It's nearly impossible to battle self-esteem with the world constantly telling you your features are not good enough.
You ARE beautiful. Every single part of you. Love yourself. Love your quirks. Stare into the mirror, get to know yourself. Have a friend describe you. Listen. Take it all in. Learn to describe yourself as others see you. Learn to love every single feature of yourself. Love your natural beauty.
You are perfect just the way you are.

And if you don't believe me, watch this:
