You need a little time...

Time heals all wounds.

That's what people say.
You're just supposed to wait it out; surf the hurt; wait for the calm after storm...

You listen to this sage advice, this time old tale of how to get through today's turmoil.
But you misinterpret that advice.
You cling to it, hoping time will erase the broken memories.
As if the more time that goes by, everything will fade and you will become whole.

But that's not how that works.
Time gives you the opportunity for understanding.
As time passes, you self-reflect on everything that has happened.

Time doesn't make you forget, it gives you a chance to grow and understand things. Time gives you the opportunity to change the perspective.

Everyone has a chance to be a positive thinker, and it is hard to rearrange things in your mind when they're not benefiting you.

I once heard that the past is just the story you tell yourself and that maybe you just remember it wrong.
Maybe you convince yourself you're inferior in moments that you completely misinterpreted, and you live in that memory.

It's hard to take a step back and try to look at things through someone else's eyes, and sometimes you really do just need the opportunity to be selfish and save yourself.
However, the best way to do that is to start seeing things differently, and eventually those things really will change.

Everyone has their own journey, and difficult pasts that have made them who they are.
You don't know someone's journey until you take the time to hear it, and you'll never understand it, without taking the time to listen.I think that is our biggest communication error.
You don't take the time to understand one another.
You hear people talking, but never actually connect to what they're saying.

You try to share our own story and explain yourself into words, but there never seems to be a word to describe what you've been through.
You fight to find the perfect paragraph to sum up who you are, and you just can't.And that means no one else can either.

As C.S. Lewis said, "Life is too deep for words, so don't try to describe it, just live it."

You spend so much time trying to get people to know you, as you fight to understand yourself, and you get lost in a sea of words that never connect to someone else's ears.

You go through many pains, waiting for enough time to pass that you heart will be perfectly mended.
But there will never be an end to heartache, because without the possibility of pain, there'd be no joy.

As Maya Angelou said, "I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it."

Take what happens to you, and use it.
Let it fuel you for good.
Negative experiences don't define you, it's how you use them.

Your life can become a message to anyone, even if it only inspires one person.

And falling apart sometimes is okay.
Maybe your eyes need to be washed by a few tears once in a while, so that you may see things clearer.
Maybe you need to have a meltdown and lose your strength for a minute, so you can see who your supporters are.
And maybe, just maybe all of those things will make you better.

Time doesn't heal all wounds, it helps you understand them.
It brings you back to your feet and makes you grateful for the tests you've had in your life that have made you stronger and more compassionate.

Everyone has a struggle.
And sometimes, we just need a little more time to get over it...
